Big Wins for Top Two

Friday 10 October 2025

Engineers stay top after beating Jumbo Jets while Lodge Farmers win against C&G Show took them to within half a point of the leaders.

It was no surprise that Engineers won the first two leg with 70 plus scores, to lead by 35 pins, before being edged out by the Jets by three pins in leg three. But in leg four, Engineers could manage only 50 pins to allow Jets in for another valuable point. Engineers then recovered their form to easily take the last leg with another 70 plus leg and comfortably win the game. Engineers’ Luke Saunders had a 12 pin stack in total of 44; Craig Sears a stack of 13 to finish with 38; and Brandon Kelso 36. For Jumbo Jets, best were Rob Quartly with 39; Mike Smeed 32, and Dan Hill & Liz Rowberry 31 each.

Lodge Farmers took each of the first three legs against C&G Show, the result being a lead of 41 pins. At which point C&G found some form. Yes, they also lost leg four, but only by a single pin, and  encouraged by that effort, they made in leg five, their highest leg score of 69 pins. Farmers response was good but their 68 pins allowed C&G Show to earn a consolation point. Tim Jones, for Farmers, continued his good form with 44 pins (incl 13 stack) to hold his lead in the league’s individual awards table. Team mates Frank Morris made 39; and Ron Pemberton, Bob Morley & Glyn Morley 32 each. C&G had Keith Edwards top scoring with 34, Dave Orton 33, and Angela Guest & Paul O’Neil 32 each.

The closest game of the week was between Nomads and The Borough. Nomads opened up a lead of 17 pins in winning the first two legs before The Borough replied by scoring 67 pins to win leg three and reduce their deficit to seven pins. But they couldn’t maintain that form in leg four which Nomads won with 70 for a lead of 19 pins. Nomads’ last leg score of 56 pins left The Borough needing an unlikely 76 pins to win but they had to be content with another consolation point by winning the leg. James Marshal lead the Nomads’ scorers with 43 (incl 14 stack), and Mac Eaton & Geoff Lout 36 apiece. The Borough’s best were Michelle Court, Charlie Few, and Kim Workman with 38, 35 & 31 respectively.

Results
Engineers 337 pins (8pts) – Jumbo Jets 301 pins (3pts)

Lodge Farmers 323 (9pts) – C&G Show 282 (pts)

Nomads 309 (8pts) - The Borough 299 (3pts)
