Borough v Bolts in Cracking Game
In a high scoring game, The Bolts score of 335 would normally win the majority of games but were denied this by a Borough team all bowing well with Julian Workman and Scott Few shining and making stacks of 12 and 10 respectively on their way to final individual scores of 44 each. The Bolts led after leg one by four pins only to find themselves seven adrift after leg two. Leg three saw the teams level before The Bolts went ahead again by four pins after leg four. Needing to put in a good last leg score though, The Bolts managed only an average total but still left The Borough wanting a tricky 65 to win which, boosted by an eleven pin stack by Charlie Few, they comfortably made. Ian Foreman for The Borough also bowled well for his 39 pins. Best for The Bolts were Paul Blayney 45 ( incl 12 stack), Lewis McSweeney 35, and 34 each from Dean Lowe & Andy Gill-Smith.
There was a some similarity in the game between Nomads and C&G Show. The latter took an early lead after leg one before Nomads hit back to lead after leg two by nine pins. C&G then responded well over the next two legs at which point the teams were level pegging before the final leg each. C&G bowled first but in managing a disappointing total left Nomads wanting only 57 pin for victory to go top of the league. The result was rarely in doubt and was settled by Nomads penultimate bowler Mac Eaton making a 13 pin stack to get them well over the line and heading the league with a third of the season completed. Eaton had an excellent game, claiming an earlier 15 pin stack, as he recorded a match total of 45. Team mates Alan Cummings scored 34 and Dave Maule 33. For C&G, best scorers were Rich Fisher with 38, Dave Orton 35, and Graham Snadden 34.
Meanwhile in the race for the season’s individual trophies, leading the way for the most pins knocked down, is Mac Eaton (Nomads) with 223. Brandon Kelso (Engineers) lies second with 216, and then Paul Blayney (Bernie’s Bolts) and Luke Saunders (Engineers) with 212 each. Best ladies are Michelle Court (The Borough) with 195 followed by Angela Guest (C&G Show) on 188.
The trophy for the best 12 scores over the season sees Mark Ganderton (Engineers) currently in top spot with an average of 39.20 pins from five games. Mac Eaton is second averaging 37.17 followed by Brandon Kelso on 36.00 both from six games. Michelle Court averages 32.50 over six games so far followed by Lily Orton (C&G Show) on 31.50 from four games.
